The boys varsity contest is scheduled to tipoff at 6 p.m. followed by the girls at 7:30 p.m. Looking at the boys game, the Cowboys (6-7, 581-687, 44.6-52.8) began the season with five straight losses, starting with Broadus 54-35 and Harlowton-Ryegate-Judith Gap 37-34—both at the season-opening Miles City Tournament—Ekalaka 76-40, Plevna 63-33 and Savage 55-28. Following were a 47-36 overtime win against Richey-Lambert and a tight 37-35 victory over Froid-Lake. Next were a 50-41 loss to Fairview, 67-63 win against the MonDak Thunder (Westby-Grenora), 73-45 loss at Brockton and 52-44 win in Bainville. Last weekend the Cowboys won over Savage 55-46 and 67-55 verus Richey-Lambert in Lambert. Froid-Lake (1-9, 321-574, 32.1-57.4) began the 2025-26 season with eight consecutive losses: 64-21 at Plentywood; 84-19 versus Lustre Christian; 47-29 versus Richey-Lambert; 37-35 at Culbertson; 63-25 versus Plentywood; 78-39 versus Brockton; 67-43 at Bainville; 40-17 at Savage. The Redhawks finally entered the victory column with a 47-33 win over visiting MonDak Saturday, January 17, in Medicine Lake. Last weekend they lost 61-46 against Richey-Lambert. Looking at the girls’ matchup, Culbertson (4-9, 423590, 32.5-45.3) began the season at the Miles City Tournament, nipping Broadus 40-38 and losing 4829 against Harlowton-Ryegate-Judith Gap. Following were a 39-19 win against Plevna and 64-21 setback to Ekalaka, both at the Lambert tourney. The Cowgirls closed out the 2025 portion of their schedule by getting edged 34-33 at Savage and being doubled up by Richey-Lambert 50-25. Losses to Froid-Lake 4837 and Fairview 40-23 followed before they carved out a close 41-38 triumph against visiting Westby-Grenora. The following night they fell big to Brockton 66-34 and six days later 62-35 to the Bulldogs in Bainville. Last week they lost 41-31 to Savage and 55-35 to Richey-Lambert. The Froid-Lake girls (5-5, 374-377, 37.4-37.7) opened the 2025-26 season with a pair of close victories, defeating Plentywood 33-25 in an away game and Lustre Christian 35-34 in the Froid School gym. Their final matchup of 2025 was a 41-34 loss in Richey to the Richey-Lambert Fusion. In the new year the Redhawks defeated Culbertson 48-37 and Plentywood 50-42. Week two of 2026 saw Froid-Lake lose 48-38 to a hot Brockton unit and 50-45 to Bainville. Week three had Froid-Lake edging Savage 35-33 and Westby-Grenora 44-35 to be a game above the .500 mark. Last week the Redhawks were defeated by Richey-Lambert 38-26. In next week’s edition of the D.C. Mady Willis (SHS ‘25) placed third in the pole vault (9-feet-10), fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.59), and ninth in the 200-meter dash in the 27.55. Hudson Atkinson (SHS ‘21), a senior, was clocked at 1:58.99 in the 200-meter dash for fourth place and was on the 4x400 relay team posting a 3:37.22 for second place, running the final leg.
