The International Poplar River and Big Muddy Creek Task Force Seeks Public Input on Water Issues The International Poplar River and Big Muddy Creek Task Force (Task Force) will host a virtual public meeting next week to talk about water in the basin. The Poplar River and Big Muddy Creek are transboundary waters that flow between the province of Saskatchewan in Canada and the state of Montana in the United States. A Task Force was set up in October 2024 by the International Joint Commission (IJC) to identify gaps in current reporting on water by Canada and the US, in consideration of the IJC’s responsibilities under the 1948 request from governments. The Task Force will share updates on current reporting in the basin and the work of the Task Force to date. The public is invited to share local information and perspectives about how water is being used now and what local needs may be in the future in the Poplar River and Big Muddy Creek basin.
