Spring Cleanup Helps Reduce the Risk of Wildfires Spring is here and summer is fast approaching. The Daniels County Rural Fire Department along with the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) is asking everyone in the County to take responsibility for reducing the risk of wildfires. There are actions everyone can take to reduce the risk of wildfires. They include: • Clean up the area around houses, farm sites and towns. • Remove any unnecessary flammable materials such as discarded furniture, firewood, chemicals and other items from around buildings and homes. • Keep the vegetation around houses and other buildings short. • Mow any grassy area near farm sites frequently during the growing season. • Consider fire guards.
