White Sox Win Minors Tourney
The Scobey White Sox put together an impressive undefeated run over the weekend, winning four consecutive games to capture the Big Muddy Little League Minors Tournament Championship with a 17-7 victory over Medicine Lake/Froid in Sunday’s title game.
The (8-10 yr olds) team, coached by Preston Baldry and Joe Hammar, combined strong pitching, timely hitting, aggressive baserunning and outstanding plate discipline throughout the tournament, outscoring opponents 54-26 on the way to the championship.
Scobey opened tournament play in Medicine Lake on Thursday, June 18 with a convincing 14-4 victory over the Culbertson Cubs. After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the White Sox responded immediately and never looked back. Chase Wilder highlighted the game with an inside-thepark home run as Scobey drew 11 walks and stole 14 bases.
