It has been exactly 30 years ago when the Scobey High School boys executed an extremely rare Montana High School Association (MHSA) Class C triple crown, which certainly is not the easiest thing to do, even if one’s teams are extremely good. To put it succinctly, it is a rarity when it occurs, especially when Montana’s smallest schools are involved.

The first time this major achievement was completed at Scobey High School was during 1995-96 term.

The boys’ 1995 football season, with Larry Henderson at the helm, ended in Terry, a 58-8 Spartan victory over the Terriers in the State C Championship Game.

During the 1995-96 boys’ basketball campaign, when Dave Selvig was the head coach and John States and Ross Fladager were the assistants, the Spartans found themselves in the State C Tournament field of eight in Great Falls. After taking care of the Rocky Boy Stars 50-43 in the first round and the Valley Christian Eagles 67-39 in the semifinals, they bombarded the Gardiner Bruins 70-38 in the state title contest.
