Spartan Boys Complete Three-Sport Sweep With 3rd Straight State Golf Title

The Scobey Spartans added another championship trophy to an already memorable school year Wednesday, capturing their third consecutive Class C boys state golf title at Marias Valley Golf & Country Club in Shelby on May 19-20.
The state title also completed a remarkable three-sport sweep for Scobey boys during the 2025-26 school year as the Spartans added golf to their previously won Class C 8-man football and boys basketball championships.
Scobey improved significantly on the second day of competition, trimming its score from +38 on day one to +25 on day two to finish at +63 overall, comfortably ahead of Manhattan Christian (+85), Forsyth (+86) and Seeley-Swan (+88).
The top four individual finishers were:
• State Champ- Patrick No Runner of Broadus — 74-72—146
• Grady Dow, Centerville — 74-80—154
• Denver Thomas, St. Regis — 79-80—159
Although he did not repeat as state champion, defending champion Cooper Axtman put together another outstanding tournament, finishing fourth overall with rounds of 85 and 75 for a 160 total, including one of the tournament’s best final-day rounds.
Scobey also packed the leaderboard with strong finishes:

On the girls side, Scobey also turned in a strong showing, placing fourth as a team behind Savage, Manhattan Christian and Broadus.
The Lady Spartans improved on the final day as well, moving from +91 to +83 for a +174 overall total.

Savage’s Aspen Peterson captured the girls individual title with a 168 total.
