Taken from the unapproved minutes and reporter’s notes of the regular meeting of City Council, City of Scobey, Montana held Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. REGULAR MEETING Mayor Morgan Lekvold called the meeting to order with Councilmembers Brian French, Niki Larson, and Seth Axtman present. Greg Crowder was present via Slack. Kurt Nelson, Public Safety Commissioner, City Attorney Samantha Howard, PWD Steve Berreth, and Clerk Sonya M. Southland also attended.

Public Works Report

• PWD Berreth reported that the street in front of the Hospital is showing signs of ground movement. Interstate Eng. will inspect it.

• The Sander is broken and being repaired. Warmer weather is melting the ice on the streets

• PWD Berreth and Paul Nelson will attend training in Glasgow, a free training provided by Montana Rural Water.

• City has shoveled ice and dirt from the west end of Smith Ave. to create a pathway for runoff to flow down the drainage field and not down the alleyway.

Zoning Administrator Report — Zoning Administrator Berreth reported that a public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, to consider the addition of a laundromat in the R2 district.

Study Commission Report – Greg Crowder reported that the City Study Commission will hold a joint public hearing with the County Study Commission and then draft their final report.
