The Scobey Spartans did something very different last week in cross country action, and that was run on a northeastern Montana course they have never competed on.

Nor had any other teams since it was the first time a cross country meet was held in Brockton.

The Brockton Invitational was conducted Friday, September 19, headquartered at the Badlands Powwow Grounds north of the townsite, where both the Scobey High School varsity teams finished near the mid dle of the pack.

The highest place achieved by the local longdistance high school runners was eighth grader Evee Berryhill, who placed 13th in a field of 41 girls, and fresh man Delbert Sones, who took 17th in a field of 48 boys.

As for team scores, the Scobey girls finished in fourth with 37 points while the boys were fifth with 52.
