Stingrays Are State Champions With Strong Effort In Choteau

The Scobey Stingrays of the Montana Federation of Swimmers organization have been enjoying the past few weeks, and why not as they are the state champions of their classification.
They ripped through the East Divisional Meet in Roundup in late July with a first-place finish and then did the same a week later in Choteau in the first week in August at the State Meet.
Logan Fischer was Scobey’s only two-time winner in individual races at state, winning the 25-meter backstroke and 25-meter butterfly.
Eight Stingrays powered their way to 10 secondplace finishes, led by Tristan Lekvold and Oliver Brinton with two each. Following with a single second-place finish were: Reid Cromwell, Daniel (Jett) Holum, Nate Lekvold, Joshua Manternach, Sophie McGowan and Aydan Stentoft.
An honorable mention goes out to Easton Fladager who was consistent with a trio of third-place finishes.
Five Scobey relay teams also earned first-place finishes at the state meet, including:
• boys age 11-12 in 200 medley starring Easton Fladager, Jett Holum, Maddex Holum and Nate Lekvold; • mixed 9-10 medley relay starring Bridger Anderberg, Harper Hansen, Weston Hardy and Harper Lekvold, breaking the pool record with a time of 1:20.82;
• mixed 8 and under freestyle starring Jaxcee Bilbrey, Oliver Brinton, Logan Fischer and Sophie Mc-Gowan;
• boys 8 and under medley relay starring Cantyn Crandell, Emmitt Kimball, Joshua Manternach and Jax Thievin;
• boys 8 and under 100-meter freestyle starring Cantyn Crandell, Hudson Hardy, Emmitt Kimball and Jax Thievin.
