Scobey Golf Boys Get Job Done At State C Golf Meet

The Scobey High School boys’ golf team captured its second consecutive Class C state championship Wednesday, May 21, on the Sidney Country Club 18-hole course.
Junior Cooper Axtman led the charge with a terrific 10-over-par 79-75—154 to capture the individual state title. Junior Brecken Maher tied for fourth place with an 86-81—167, junior Evan Tande sixth at 84-84—168 and freshman Teagan Fishell showed very well at 96-94—190 for 24th in a field of 49.
The Manhattan Christian Eagles placed second, seven strokes behind the Spartans.
For the Scobey girls, who placed sixth in the team standings, they were led by junior Avery Wolfe at 109-97—206 for a tie at 16th. Following were junior Claire Lekvold at 106-117—223 for a tie at 25th, Ashtynn Fladager 107-118—225 for a tie at 28th and freshman Emerson Fladager 128-122—250 for 40th in a field of 48.
The Savage Warriors won the girls team title with 570 strokes, 14 better than runnersup Centerville Miners.
