When the regulation 18 holes and the chip-offs were complete, it was official- the Scobey girls and boys had captured the championships at their own Scobey Invitational Golf Meet.

Held Tuesday, May 6, at the Scobey Golf Course, the invite tourney was orginally scheduled for Monday, May 5, but Mother Nature proclaimed “Go ahead and try and be miserable trying.”

Monday the 5th was a nasty piece of weather as the winds were very strong, the temperature was something one did not want to be swinging a golf club in and the sun was hidden behind the thick cloud cover.

That was at 8:15 a.m. with the meet scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and the Scobey Golf Clubhouse parking lot bare of anything.

It goes without saying the weather won on that Monday morning and the meet was postponed until the next day, Tuesday the 6th.

When the warmups were complete and the golfers headed for their designated teeboxes at 9 a.m. Tuesday, it was 52 degrees with humidity at 36 percent and an 8 miles per hour wind. Let’s just say it wasn’t perfectweather golf conditions but it was more than tolerable at the time.
