MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DANIELS COUNTY, MONTANA, HELD APRIL 7, 8, AND 21, 2025.

REGULAR MEETING April 7, 9 o’clock a.m.

The Board met in regular session, Commissioners Linder, Thievin and Fladager were present with the clerk.

The meeting was called to order.

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Commissioner Thievin made a motion to approve the agenda, Commissioner Fladager seconded the motion, all voted in favor, motion passed.

Commissioner Thievin made a motion to approve March 2025 minutes, Commissioner Fladager seconded the motion, all voted in favor, motion passed.

The Board approved payroll for March 31, 2025.

The Board approved JV#’s 8663—8666, 8669-8670 (Duplicated numbers) The Board approved the officer reports for March 2025.

The Board read a letter from Mike Murphy regarding road name and a road name change. The Board referred the letter to the County Attorney.

The Board reviewed the quote for a 2025 Case IH TR 340B skid steer from Border Plains Equipment.

Commissioner Thievin made a motion to purchase the skid steer with a loan procured from the Independence Bank for $43,800.00 to pay for the Solid Waste’s sixty percent of the purchase. The Road will provide forty percent of the purchase, Commissioner Fladager seconded the motion, all present voted in favor, motion passed.

The Clerk and Recorder presented a quote from Will’s Office for the purchase of a new Canon copier. Commissioner Fladager made a motion to approve the purchase of the new copier, Commissioner Thievin seconded the motion, all present voted in favor, motion passed.

Commissioner Fladager made a motion to approve the Chairman signing two applications for titles for the gravel trailers and one application for title for the Ford F750, Commissioner Thievin seconded the motion, all present voted in favor, motion passed.

Mary Nyhus, DES Coordinator, met with the Board regarding the Homeland Security Grant she is applying for the purchase of two new sirens. She is applying for the grant under Daniels County. The grant isn’t funded as of yet, but there is still a deadline for the submittal. She is waiting for letters of support. The DES EMPG will be paying for the next two quarters.

Mary is considering retirement in August. She has a person willing to apply for her position as DES Coordinator.

The Board reviewed the Interlocal Agreement with the Montana Highway Patrol regarding equipment being installed on the county’s communication tower and in the sheriff’s office. There were questions regarding the ownership and purchasing of the consoles. The Board contacted Mike Feldman with the highway patrol to inquire about the consoles.

The board recessed for lunch.
