From balmy and beautiful weather conditions to cold and windy in a 48-hour span describes the Scobey High School girls’ and boys’ opening week of invitational golf action.

The Spartans began the 2025 season Tuesday, April 15, on the Sidney Country Club 18-hole course, which is scheduled to be the venue for the Montana High School Association’s Class C Girls and Boys State Meet May 20-21.

Junior Cooper Axtman fired an even-par 34-38—72 on an absolutely beautiful spring day where the temperature reached 70 degrees featuring lots of sunshine and not much wind. Axtman achieved the par score thanks to sinking three long putts in 20-25 foot range to finish in first place. His even-par score means he has already qualified for the state meet, which is less than four weeks.
