Aleda ‘Dete’ Bantz 1930 – 2026

Aleda “Dete” Mae Bantz, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026 in Scobey, Montana surrounded by the love of her family.

Dete was born on June 21, 1930 in Plentywood, Montana, to Perry and Vera (Bedwell) Knight. She grew up in northeastern Montana alongside her siblings, Audrey, Gloria, Duane, Betty and Lois, where she developed the strong work ethic, kindness, and generous spirit that would define her life.

On February 2, 1948, she married the love of her life, Jack Bantz, in Flathead County, Montana. Together they built a wonderful life centered around faith, family, hard work, and the community they loved.
