MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETINGS OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF DANIELS COUNTY, MONTANA, HELD MAY 4, 5, AND 18, 2026.

SPECIAL MEETING May 4, 9 o’clock a.m.

The Board met in regular session, Commissioners Thievin, Fladager and Linder were present with the clerk.

The meeting was called to order. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Commissioner Linder made a motion to approve the agenda, Commissioner Fladager seconded the motion, all voted in favor, motion passed.

Commissioner Fladager made a motion to approve April 2026 minutes. Commissioner Linder seconded the motion, all voted in favor, motion passed.

The Board approved April 30, 2026 payroll.

The Board approved JV#s 8774-8779 The Board approved officer reports for April 2026.

The Board reviewed correspondence: DEQ modifying standards of water meeting June 8, June 10 meeting in Helena, e-mail from Michael Murphy, Cory Swanson will be in Scobey on May 12 in the courtroom for coffee and conversation, email from Bonnie Knopp from MACo regarding property and casualty insurance question on the procedure for writing checks for the county.

The clerk asked the Board for approval to publish the bid notices for the meals on wheels and congregate meals for the senior citizens. Commissioner Fladager made a motion to approve the clerk publishing the bid notice, Commissioner Linder seconded the motion, all voted in favor, motion passed.

Jenna Jones, Board of Health Chairman met with the Board to get approval of the job description for the Public Health Director position. Commissioner Linder made a motion to accept the job description, Commissioner Fladager seconded the motion. The job will be advertised inhouse and then in the paper.

Julia Laurie and Katherine Leibrand met with the Board. Treasurer Laurie reported that the State of Montana is asking that payments to the state over $50,000.00 be paid by ACH. She is asking that the Board reconsider her quarter-time position and move it to a half-time position. The motor vehicle program has become more extensive and the training for the program more involved. She feels having that position moved to half-time would free her up to concentrate on the work she needs to get done versus getting interrupted to wait on customers and to have bac...
