Can Johnslee Make It Happen at State C Meet As Well?
One has to believe Lustre Christian High School senior Johnslee Pierre is on the verge of doing something truly amazing at this week’s Montana High School Association Class C State Track and Field Meet in Laurel.
At the Thursday, May 21, East C Divisional Meet at the Lambert Sports Complex, he had a score sheet looking like this: 400-meter dash, first place in 50.78, a personal best; 110 hurdles, first in 14.99, another PB; 300 hurdles, first in 38.50; long jump, first at 21 feet, 6 inches; triple jump, first in 47 feet, 2 inches!
That’s 50 huge points from one person to help the Lions tally 113 total team points to win the boys’ division.
However, once at the season finale in Laurel, there will truly be more than enough outstanding athletes from around Big Sky Country attempting to knock him down a peg or two in the final standings of the aforementioned events. Pierre might win some, he might not win some, but, guaranteed, he will tally his share of team points. The big question: will it be enough to bring back to the Lustre community a State C trophy, whether it be the first-, second- or third-place hardware. Hey, the Lions did it in basketball in the 2025-26 season so why not in boys track and field as well?
Their chances look very good!
The boys’ field at the East C get-together last week produced 51 personal- best times and distances and 11 seasonal-best marks while the girls accumulated 38 PBs and 8 SBs.
