It went from great Friday night on the road to notso- great at home Saturday night for the Scobey varsity girls’ basketball team.

The Spartans (13-5, 969565, 53.8-31.3) used an Emery Rouse last-second basket to take down the 3-time defending State C champion North Country Mavericks in Hinsdale Friday night. However, on their home court in Scobey Saturday night the local young ladies could not handle a very good conference-leading Circle squad in a 44-32 defeat.

The Lady Spartans now turn their attention to the post season, starting with the District 3C Tournament at Glasgow High School February 18-21. Their first game was held Wednesday night in a scheduled 7 p.m. tip-off against Nashua, with the winner meeting North Country in the late semifinal set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Earlier in the day Lustre Christian met Frazer at 4:30 p.m. (Radio: KCGM 95.7 FM).
