Now It Gets Very Real For Our  Spartans As It’s Tournament Time

The 2025-26 regular season for the Scobey boys’ varsity basketball team is over and the great news is the local lads have yet to experience that nasty taste of defeat.

The Spartans (18-0, 1339-512, 74.3-28.4) take the number-one seed into this week’s District 3C Tournament in Glasgow. It means they won’t play until Thursday, February 19, which is a semifinal contest versus the winner of the Frazer-North Country first-round matchup. Should they score a victory Thursday afternoon they will have Friday off and then play in the championship game Saturday at 6 p.m. Scobey reached this point by winning twice last weekend in a pair of conference matchups.

First up was the North Country Mavericks, a game played in the Hinsdale High School gymnasium.

The Spartans took a very quick 2-0 when senior Brecken Maher tallied shortly after the opening tip-off was in the air. The Mavericks countered with a basket of their own for a 2-all tally then took the lead for good on Kolten Machart’s bucket.
