Way back in the prehistoric times of 1978 when dinosaurs roamed the earth, there came roaring out of Daniels County in far northeastern Montana a basketball team for the ages. With no player over 5’11” and led by two of the best guards to ever play the high school game in the state of Montana, junior twins Joe and Jon Puckett, those Panthers became the first in the history of tiny Peerless High School (enrollment 34) to ever advance to the hallowed State Class C Basketball Tournament in Helena.
