Lady Spartans Drop A Pair Of Losses To Pair Of Good Teams

The Scobey girls’ varsity basketball team lost both of its District 3C games over the weekend but keep in mind the Lady Spartans fell to a pair of high-quality opponents: one is on top of the conference perch while the other sits in second.

Up first was the North Country Mavericks visiting the Scobey gymnasium on Friday, January 23.

The 3-time defending State C champion Mavs found themselves trailing the Spartans 3-0 after Camrie Holum sank three free throws.

After Kennedy Simonson knocked down a couple of free throws at the 5:29 mark, Gracee Wasson drilled a 3-point field goal giving the visitors the lead for good. The advantage grew to 10-3 when Ainsley Erickson netted a couple of free throws.

Scobey frosh Emery Rouse swished a 3-pointer from the corner and then hit a turnaround jumper at the buzzer from inside the key to close within 10-8 through the first eight minutes.
