Make that 8-0!

In a possible preview of what the upcoming District 3C Tournament championship game might might look like—the Circle boys might have an issue with that statement!— the Scobey Spartans survived a 64-48 final score at Lustre Christian.

Following wins by margins of 39, 64, 42, 51, 29, 48 and 83 in their first seven contests of the season, the Scobey varsity boys’ basketball team was finally pushed by a worthy opponent.

Played Saturday night at Lustre Christian High School, the Scobey boys began pulling away from a 2-2 tie and then never looked back. However, it was not an easy task.

By the conclusion of the first quarter it was 15-13 Spartans, thanks to a buzzerbeating 3-point field goal by Prestyn Klatt of the Lions.

Scobey’s lead hit 23-13 on John Carney’s 3-point field goal but Klatt canned a couple of treys and just like that it was 23-19.

The Spartans went on an 8-0 scoring, making it 29-19 as, in order scored, Carney netted a left hander, Bram Handran filled the bucket, Brecken Maher hit from the key and Reese Tande a field goal with 2:52 left in the first half. By the hal...
