City Business . . .

Takenfromthe unapproved minutes and reporter’s notes of the regular meeting of City Council, City of Scobey, Montana held Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. REGULAR MEETING Mayor Morgan Lekvold called the meeting to order with Councilmembers Brian French, Nikki Larson, and Seth Axtman present. Greg Crowder was present via Slack. Kurt Nelson, Pubic Safety Commission, John Bach, and Kaden Bedwell with Interstate Engineering, Fire Chief Wyatt Wilder, PWD Steve Berreth, and Clerk Sonya M. Southland also attended.

Public Works Report –

• PWD Berreth reported working on streets- removing ice, Christmas decorations are down, and a private service line broke last Friday.

• City is hauling garbage. The newer truck is still in Billings, awaiting a new wire harness.

Zoning Administrator Report — Zoning Administrator Berreth reported that a public hearing/zoning commission meeting is scheduled for tomorrow (Wednesday, January 14, 2026) to discuss chicken coop regulations. He also presented a shed permit at 711 Timmons. Application is in compliance. Councilwoman Larson moved to approve the shed permit; seconded and passed.

Study Commission Report – Wyatt Wilder reported they are scheduling a meeting to make the final recommendation: no changes to the Council. The Council discussed the survey results.

Fire Chief Report— Fire Chief Wilder reported that the county fire department purchased a pickup and will begin using it instead of the suburban. This is a cityowned vehicle and is parked on the city side of the fire hall. Does the Fire Dept need the suburban? Fire Chief Wyatt will discuss this with County Fire Chief Neil Holum.
