It might not have went according to plan but the Scobey girls’ and boys’ varsity basketball teams, at the very least, played one game each last week when three were scheduled for both.

That would be the Tuesday, December 9, matchups against the girls and boys of the visiting Plentywood Wildcats.

The back two-thirds of opening week did not go off as planned as icy roads prevented the Spartans from traveling to the Shelby Tournament to play the Montana High School Association’s Class B Fairfield Eagles and independent Stillwater Christian located in the Kalispell, Montana area.

It sounds like the weather might not be much of a factor on Friday, December 19, when the Spartans travel to play the Frazer Bearcubs for a pair of varsity contests (VB 5:30 p.m., VG 7 p.m.) but after that it is going to get very cold again, meaning who knows what the weather might do and what conditions the roads will be in.

Then it is a 14-day break of games, after which the Scobey girls and boys resume the 2026 portion of their schedule, which includes: • Wolf Point and Westby-Grenora in Scobey January 2-3 in week one of the new year (4:30/4:30/6/7:30);
