Local Gov. Review Survey; 107 On-line Responses

More than 650 household surveys were mailed out this fall as part of the Local Government Review Study Commission’s public outreach. With just over 1,000 registered voters in Daniels County, 107 residents completed the online survey. These results do not include an additional 16 paper surveys that have been returned but not entered.

The survey asked voters about a wide range of possible changes to city and county government. Most respondents reported being registered voters in both Daniels County (81 respondents) and the City of Scobey (63), with smaller participation from Flaxville residents.

On several questions, opinions were divided.Aslim majority (52%) supported non-partisan elections, while 27% opposed the idea.

One of the more decisive results concerned consolidation of local government. When asked, “Are you in favor of consolidating city and county government?”
