Scobey Teams Quickly Transition From V-Ball And F-Ball To B-Ball


The Scobey boys’ basketball program has big plans this 2025-26 season of capturing the Montana High School Association (MHSA) Class C state championship in Missoula.
The thought of doing so undoutedly struck the team immediately after the Spartans captured the third-place trophy at last season’s State C Tournament in Butte. To put it in the simplest of terms, they are in it to win it this season, all of it.
Does the Leader reader realize what else is big this season?
It is the new and verymuch expanded East C Division. It stretches from Westby to Ekalaka then just over 50 miles as the crow flies southwest to Broadus. Then it heads northwest to Jordan, Saco and Whitewater then back along the international border back to Westby. It is a huge swath of real estate, around 50,000 square miles, which is a little over onethird of Montana’s 145,545 square miles. In the 2024-25 season the East C Division ran from Dodson down to Circle, over to Richey and Lambert, up to Bainville and Westby and then back west to Whitewater.
The new East C Division is twice the size of the old East C Division squaremile- wise!
The District 3C will shrink from seven teams to six as the Dodson Coyotes will be playing in the North C Division’s District 9, doing home-and-home conference games with the Big Sandy Pioneers, Box Elder Bears, Hay-Lodgepole Thunderbirds, North Star Knights and Turner Tornados.
