Scobey’s Gridiron Greats One Win Away From Being State Champs

 

Host Flint Creek Titans Saturday At 1 p.m.

Eleven games down and an extremely big one to go for the Scobey Spartans, who on Saturday, November 15, punched their ticket to the Montana High School Association’s Class C 8-Man State Championship Game after defeating the Fort Benton Longhorns 46-14 in the semifinals.

To be held Saturday, November 22, on Scobey’s Plainsmen Field with the opening kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m., the local Spartans are set to host the cooperative agreement team Flint Creek Titans, which is made up of players from Drummond High School and Granite County (Philipsburg) High School.

The last time these two met was in Drummond in 2020, where the Class C 8-Man State Championship Game was being held with the Titans emerging a 44-6 winner.

The Titans’ (10-0, 418130, 41.8-13.0) road to this championship-playoff berth looks like this: defeated the Park City Panthers 5622, Lone Peak (Big Sky) Big Horns 50-6, Manhattan Christian Eagles 42-6, Ennis Mustangs 44-6, Twin Bridges Falcons 46-14, Sheridan Panthers 44-0, Harlowton-Ryegate-Judith Gap Engineers 2-0 by forfeit, Superior Bobcats 54-12 in first round of the playoffs, Belt Huskies 44-32 in the quarterfinals and Circle Wildcats 36-32 in last week’s semifinals.

The Spartans’ (11-0, 548-144, 49.8-13.0) journey to the final Class C 8-Man game of the 2025 season looks like this: defeated the Plentywood Wildcats 48-6, MonDak (Westby-Grenora) Thunder 60-6, Circle Wildcats 26-6, Carter County (Ekalaka) Bulldogs 42-38, Forsyth Dogies 68-16, Culbertson Cowboys 46-6, Fairview Warriors 46-8, Poplar Indians 52-0, Choteau Bulldogs 48-20 in the first round of the playoffs, St. Regis-Mullan, Idaho Tigers 66-24 in the quarterfinals and Fort Benton 46-14 in last week’s semifinals, with the latter three all being played on Scobey’s Plainsmen Field.
