They are not as dominant when capturing the Montana High School Association Class C 8-man state championship in 2023 nor last season when they lost to the Belt Huskies in the state title contest but they are still the Fairview Warriors (4-2, 307148, 51.1-24.6).

Translation: do not count them out, especially tonight (Thursday, October 16) when they journey to Scobey’s Plainsmen Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff against the top-ranked Scobey Spartans (6-0, 29078, 48.3-13.0).

The weather forecast forecast for Thursday’s matchup as of 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, called for a daytime high temperature of 51 degrees with a 50 percent chance of rain between 7-8 p.m. and 60 percent chance of precipitation between 8-9 p.m. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. and end around 9 p.m. so the possibility of rain is in play.

The Warriors began the season with a 28-14 loss to Culbertson but then won four straight games: 64-0 over Poplar, 60-54 over Forsyth, 73-24 over MonDak, 64-0 over Plentywood. Last week on their Starr Field turf they were defeated by Circle 42-32, after leading 26-20 but being outscored by the Wildcats 22-6 the rest of the way.

As for the Spartans, they protected their undefeated record and Class C 8-man top ranking, according to the Montana Television Network’s weekly poll, by taking care of business Saturday night on C Bar C Field in Culbertson.
