Many Spartans Improve Times From Last Time
Park in Fort Peck.
It’s the place where the green leaves are starting to turn yellow and the blacktop running surface usually equates into the fastest times of the season for some northeast Montana cross country runners.
It is where the Scobey Spartans cross country teams found themselves competing in the Glasgow Invitational on Saturday, October 4, and eight of the locals posted their fastest times of the season on the mostly-paved, black-top running surface.
If one was to figure out the times from the Glasgow meet compared to the previous meet, which was held on the Plentywood Golf Course, the results show eight Spartans lowered their times from one week to the next.
For instance, Ashtynn Fladager ran a 29:57.51 in Plentywood but lowered it to a 26:08.66 (3 minutes and 49 seconds lower difference) on the Fort Peck track eight days later (all these comparisons are from the Plentywood Invitational to the Glasgow gathering).
Shelby Cole went from a 29:13.17 in Plentywood to a 25:31.43 in Fort Peck, a 3:42 gap.
