Taken from the unapproved minutes and reporter’s notes of the regular meeting of City Council, City of Scobey, Montana held Tuesday,August 26, 2025 at
8:30 a.m.
REGULAR MEETING Mayor Morgan Lekvold called the meeting to order with councilmembers Niki Larson, Greg Crowder, and Brian French present. Seth Axtman was absent. Tami Fladager (8:40 a.m.) Wyatt Wilder (8:37 a.m.), Burl Bowler, Terry and Emily Rask, City Attorney Samatha Howard, PWD Steve Berreth (8:53 a.m.), and Clerk Sonya M. Southland also attended.
Hearings were held before most business items of the regular meeting were addressed. See later in the story.
Public Comment— Wyatt Wilder inquired if there had been any further discussion on the future use of the hospital building. Would the city and county consider sharing office spaces? There
has been some discussion.
Other discussion included: Could it be used for private use, like an assisted living facility? People want this building to stay viable and have a use.
Public Works Report – PWD Steve Berreth
• Pool is closed for the season.
• Crew has been black topping.
• Hydrants will be flushed in September.
• The stop sign by Cromwell’s Convenience was hit again. The crew will repair.
• Street signs are installed on the north and south sides of the Park; one-way signs with a 5-mile per hour limit have been installed.
• The wiring harness should be installed on the garbage truck.
• Some of the green cans are too heavy for the rental truck to pick up - the crew

is going to drill holes in the green cans to drain excess rainwater out.
Zoning Administrator Report — reviewed zoning permits for the following addresses: 410 Main St., 304 4th Ave., 511 Daniels St., and 3 Robinson St. All Permits comply. Councilwoman Larson moved to approve the permit applications as presented, for a Fence Permit at 410 Main St., a Shed Permit at 304 4th Ave., a Shed Permit at 511 Daniels St., and a Fence Permit at 3 Robinson St.; seconded and passed.
