Scobey High School and Junior High cross country programs were off and running with their first official practice of the 2025 season on Friday, August 15.

Fast forward two weeks to Friday, August 29, and it is already time for the initial meet of the season. The Spartans will make the short trip down to Airport Golf Course, about four miles southeast of the Wolf Point townsite.

Action begins at 10 a.m. with the girls’ and boys’ middle school races followed by the two varsity competitions.

The course is mostly flat with a couple of dips here and there. At one point the runners depart the golf course and head into a wooded area for a span, going down toward the Missouri River bank then later re-entering the soft surface of the golf course’s green grass.

Seven days later on Saturday, September 6, the Scobey harriers head to the east side of Poplar for their second races of the season, more precisely the Medicine Bear Complex. It plays host to the Poplar Invitational on Saturday, September 6, which is a couple of miles east of the townsite by the Medicine Bear Complex. It, too, begins at 10 a.m. with the two middle school races followed by the two varsity runs.

Then it is time to stay put at home on Friday, September 12, when the Scobey Invitational ...
