Taken from the unapproved minutes and reporter’s notes of the regular meeting of City Council, City of Scobey, Montana held Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 8:30 a.m.
REGULAR MEETING Mayor Morgan Lekvold called the meeting to order with councilmembers Seth Axtman, Greg Crowder, and Niki Larson present. Councilman French was absent. John Bach with Interstate Eng., Fire Chief Wyatt Wilder, City Attorney Samatha Howard, Emma Brensdal, PWD Steve Berreth, and Clerk Sonya M. Southland also attended.
Pool Manager — PWD Berreth reported that swim lessons have begun and scheduled Monday to Thursday. Councilwoman Larson asked about chemical levels; any electrical storm or power outage can cause issues.
Public Works – PWD Steve Berreth reported getting ready for the weekend, and streets are being swept.
• Councilman Axtman asked about street repairs on Smith Avenue. Patching is scheduled in July.
• The garbage truck is still getting a new body installed. Green dumpsters are being dumped. Councilman Axtman inquired about the county’s schedule for hauling garbage to Sheridan County, as dumpsters are full. Discussed the agreement in place to haul trash, which is up for renewal yearly and should be renewed at the beginning of next year. Councilwoman Larson reported that she is unsure why the landfill has not been closed yet. It is frustrating not being able to dump at the new transfer station when it is closed off.
