SOFTBALL — Panthers picked: The MHSA’s Class AA Belgrade Panthers had two players with ties to Daniels County selected on the All-State team. Teagan Bowler, daughter of Zach (SHS ‘94) and Jennifer Bowler (nee: Ware, SHS ‘95), was ranked second on the team in batting average at .306 with a pair of doubles and nine RBIs. The junior led the team, which posted a 15-6-1 record and won their firstever conference title, in sacrifice bunts and ranked second in stolen bases with nine. “Teagan found a great role for us in the DP spot (designated player) and executed well,” said Joey Roberts, head coach of the Panthers’ program. “She is such a weapon on the base paths and created a ton of pressure on opposing defenses with her speed and ability to handle the bat.” The other player with Daniels County ties is catcher Ava Lund, the daughter of Jacob Lund (SHS ‘99) and granddaughter of Scobey’s Mikel and Nancy Lund.
