Nelsons, Jones And Obergfell Win In Bank/Nemont Scramble


The 14th annual Independence Bank-Nemont Scramble was played Saturday, June 7, at the Scobey Golf Course and the day turned into a battle not only for the lowest score but against the elements as well.
The 92 competitors making up 23 teams—it was 27 but four teams dropped out the night before—had to deal with an all-day-long wind and it wasn’t a breeze.
When the tourney began just before 10 a.m. the wind out of the west was humming along at 17 miles per hour and the temperature at 60 degrees. Around 6:15 p.m. when all the teams had turned in their scorecards the wind was humming along at 23 miles per hour and the temperature sitting at 66 degrees.
When all the scorecards were tallied the winners of the 4-person scramble was the squad of Jefferson Jones, Jacklynn Nelson and Seth Nelson of the Scobey Golf Club and Cassidy Obergfell of the Plentywood Golf Club, a net score of 52.57, which was 19.43 strokes below the par of 72.
