Phones in Scobey Nearly Four Times Greater Than in 1936– A petition has been filed with the Public Service Commission by the Mountain States Telephone Company, asking for an increase in exchange and toll rates.

An increase of 25c was granted on business telephones in 1948 in the Scobey area. There has been no increase in residential rates since 1936. Material costs have increased on an average of more than 60% and that telephone employees have received a total of nine wage increases since 1940.
