It happened around 11:15 a.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024, as the 19th annual Scobey Lil’ Roar Basketball Tournament was in the early stages of the fourth hour of games in both Scobey School gymnasiums.

The question being pondered at that moment was this: what would be the 2024 theme for the wrap-up story in the Daniels County Leader’s April 18 issue and what team or teams would it involve?

During last season’s 18th annual the answer came out of nowhere in the vicinity of 11:15 a.m. — you are reading that right, around the same time as this past weekend’s event. On that morning a year ago while watching the Scobey sixth-grade boys, the answer popped up out of nowhere: the Scobey sixth grade boys would be featured due to the fact they were something beyond good. A few of them were interviewed, their games were reported on with some detail and their hard work during the off-season paid off.

So on Saturday, April 13, 2024, as noted earlier, the theme just popped up out of nowhere. While watching the 4th/5th-grade boys game between Malta Hail and Skillz & Drillz of Wolf Point with Garrett Lund and Scott Mc-Gowan working the whistles the theme had arrived...
