Slow Offensive Start Against Mavs  Means Third Loss For Spartans

Will it reach 44 or dropback down to zero and start all over again? That was the lead paragraph in last week’s Scobey varsity girls’ basketball article on this same page and the answer to the question is this: it is not starting all over again, meaning the top-ranked North Country Mavericks and their current 44-game winning streak is still alive and doing oh-sovery well.

An extremely slow start on the offensive end by the Spartans is the reason why.

However, it is no time fret about the past when an exciting future is just a short spell away, as in mere days.

For starters, the final home game of the season goes Friday night when the Nashua Porcupines pay their annual visit with tipoff set for 6 p.m.

Saturday the Scobey girls are scheduled to make the short trip to Lustre Christian High School to face the Lions in a scheduled 4 p.m. jump ball.

Both the Lions and Spartans enter this weekend’s action with identical 7-3 District 3 conference records. The Lustre girls travel to Saco Friday to play North Country. A lot is on the line this weekend as far as district-tourney seeding goes.
