Scobey was never in any real trouble Saturday night in Circle, but the homestanding Wildcats gave the top-ranked Spartans a pretty good dose of competition in District 3C boys’ basketball action in a 49-38 final.

The night before Scobey notched its 11th consecutive victory of the season over the Dodson Coyotes in an 81-26 win.

The locals host the Wolf Point Wolves Friday, Januauary 26, in non-conference play (CB 1:30 p.m., JVB 4:30 p.m., VB 7:30 p.m.). On Tuesday, January 30, Scobey travels to Nashua (JVB 4:30 p.m., VB 7:30 p.m.) for a make-up game that was postponed on January 12 due to dangerous weather conditions.

The Spartans (12-0, 772-382, 64.3-31.8) raced to a 10-0 advantage against Dodson Friday. Senior Braxton Wolfe started the scoring by sinking a 3-point field goal and a layup for a 5-0 lead. Sophomore John Carney connected on a leftwing 3-point field goal and, at the 5:40 mark, his classmate Bram Handran tallied from the interior.
