Scobey Jr. High Kids Compete In Sidney

 

The junior high Scobey Spartans competed in the Sidney Invitational Friday, April 28, at Swanson Field adjacent to the high school.

It hosted 21 teams from 24 schools stretching from Ekalaka in the southeast to Glasgow in the northeast and Williston/Watford City in North Dakota’s northwest to Rosebud (32 miles west of Miles City). In other words, draw a line from Opheim to Glasgow to Jordan to Rosebud to Ekalaka to Watford City to Williston to Westby and back over to Opheim and that was the coverage area of this meet.

If broken down into individual grades: the Scobey seventh grade girls placed sixth out of 20 teams; Scobey eighth grade girls placed nineth out of 16 teams; Scobey eighth grade boys placed 12th out of 14 teams and the Scobey seventh grade boys placed eighth out of 19 teams.

The highest individual finishers for Scobey per grade were: 7th grade girls, Ava Stentoft, discus, 1st; 8th grade girls, Kayla Carney, 1600-meter run, 6:21.61, 2nd; 7th grade boys, Sebastian McGowan, 800-meter run, 2:37.07, 2nd; 8th grade boys, Torsten Lamb, 100-meter dash, 3rd.
