Will Observe “Brother Van”

Centennial– A “Pioneer Day” will be observed here April 4th by parishioners of the Scobey Methodist Church when they commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Rev. W. W. Van Orsdal whose missionary activities in the early days of Scobey formed a part of the colorful history of this community.

On Thanksgiving Day, 1913, when the Great Northern Railway completed laying tracks in the city limits of Scobey, it was “Brother Van” who preached to a congregation gathered at the school house. That same day he dedicated the Methodist parsonage which the Rev. R. H. Stone had just completed.
