It was an extremely tough act to follow for the 2021-22 Scobey High School boys’ basketball team.

A five-consecutive-season run at the State C Tournament was at stake, where the Spartans were the twotime defending state champions, and 54-game winning streak was still in play when the season started. To their credit the Spartans did win their first game of the season, tied the Montana allclass state record of 56 consecutive wins with Missoula Sentinel, and then took sole possession of it at 57 straight. Then it was ended by the Lustre Christian Lions in their den as December was winding down. Two weeks into the new year the 53-game home-court winning streak, alive from February 5, 2016 to January 15, 2022, came to an end. However, the Spartans did manage to upset Lustre Christian in the District 3C Tournament’s championship game, giving them some momentum heading into the East C Divisional Tournament in Sidney. Following a 4441 loss to Richey-Lambert the Spartans bounced back with a 78-44 win over North Country. However, the clock struck zero on Scobey’s season in a Friday morning loser- out game when falling to Lustre Christian 43-37.
