Comertown, located along the currently out-ofservice Dakota, Missouri Valley & Western Railroad branchline between Dooley on the west side and Westby on the east side, was named after William and Phi Comer, says the November 3, 2022 issue of The Sheridan County News newspaper. William and Phi’s great-grandson, William “Frosty” Comer of Oregon was recently in Plentywood and visited with seven former Comertown residents.

Back in the day Comertown was big enough to have two general stores, two lumberyards, two beer joints, two grain elevators, a post office, a school with a dorm and a railroad depot, said the article in the
