Scobey Boys Corral Mavericks But Get Black-Iced By Scotties

 

The Scobey Spartans rebounded nicely from their first boys' basketball loss since March 2019 when more than doubling up a young North Country Mavericks squad 64-31.

Played Friday, January 7, in the Octagon Gym at Hinsdale High School — its interior roof is a polygon of eight angles — the Spartans raced to a 10-zip lead. Jace Bilbrey hit a 3-point field goal and two free throws while tucked in between were a 3- and 2-pointer by Hudson Kjos.

After Aiden Albus sank a pair of free throws to get the Mavs on the scoreboard, a Gage Hallock field goal, Bilbrey layup and two treys by Braxton Wolfe gave Scobey a 20-6 lead through one quarter of play.

The Spartans went off for 21 points in the second period as good ball movement led to a Tristan Fladager 3-point field goal and 25-6 advantage.
