Watching the steeplechase the other evening during the Olympic coverage, we wondered, who the heck would put a big pit of water to land in after contestants cleared a 3’ barrier in the middle of a race track.

Obviously not knowing much about the brutal sport, but having heard steeplechase referenced in the equine world, we looked up some information. Steeplechase is not new and has been an Olympic foot race event since modern Olympics. It was introduced in 1900 for men and 2008 for women.
