Things, Ideas & People . . .

Crosby, North Dakota, 102 miles east of Scobey via Highway 5 and having about the same population as Scobey, is shutting down its nursing home. In early June 2021 St. Luke’s Hospital of Crosby announced it would close it permanently effective the middle of September of this year. The Journal weekly newspaper based in Crosby reported the 42-bed facility, located in the hospital, had 40 residents in 2013. Now there are just 19 as of July 2021. St. Luke’s has averaged a loss of $72,000 a month over the last one-half year. Something to think about here in Scobey? As in how not to let it happen here. — mike
