Taken from the unapproved minutes of the regular meeting of City Council, City of Scobey, Montana held Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall.

REGULAR MEETING

Mayor Danne Showers called the meeting to order with councilmen Scott Fishell, Morgan Lekvold, Jon Baker, and Paul Landeraaen present. Also, in attendance were John Leibrand, Kevin Kjensmo, Wyatt Wilder, City Attorney Ben Fosland, PWD Steve Berreth and Clerk Sonya M. Southland.

Public Comment – Kevin Kjensmo discussed concerns with increase traffic and dust on B Street. Councilman Landeraaen agreed traffic has increased on B Street due to the installment of speed bumps on C Street and the Water Project. Kevin requested additional speed bumps and stop signs on B Street.

Council discussed options such as adding chloride for dust control, using millings and/or adding more gravel.

Councilman Landeraaen will review the options discussed.

Councilman Baker stated stop signs are traffic control devices but we still need law enforcement to enforce traffic violations. He will talk to the Sheriff about additional signage. Council asked about using cameras and City Attorney Fosland stated Montana law doesn’t allow citing people off of traffic control cameras.
