Primary energy consumption by source in the world in 2018 as measured by terawatt hours, a terawatt equaling one trillion watts, includes: oil, 55,000 terawatt hours; coal 45,000 terawatt hours; natural gas 39,000 terawatt hours; hydropower and nuclear both 3 terawatt hours; wind, solar and other renewables were 1-2 terawatt hours.
