Tourney Time Takes Over On Wednesday!

The 2020-21 Scobey varsity boys’ basketball regular season has zipped by faster than a Spartan fast break as the boys donning the blue and gold are now in week six of six.

Scobey (15-0, 1074-460, 71.6-30.6) entered this week’s action by playing the District 2C-leading Froid-Lake Redhawks (12-1, 872-454, 67.0-34.9) Tuesday, February 9, in Medicine Lake. The two met in an impromptu non-conference clash January 21 in Scobey with the Spartans surviving a 57-54 scare, which came right down to a final 3-point field-goal attempt by the Redhawks at the final buzzer almost going in and forcing overtime.

Scobey hosts the Nashua Porcupines (1-4, 198-319, 39.6-63.8) Friday, February 12, at 7:30 p.m. in their final District 3C game of the regular season. The Porcupines missed two games against Lustre Christian and one each against Richey-Lambert, North Country, Dodson, Frazer and Brockton, with none of them scheduled to be made up.

Saturday the 13th the Spartans travel to the Wolves’ Den Gym at Wolf Point High School to meet the hometown Wolves (3-5, 394-481, 49.2-60.1) in nonconference action at 7 p.m.

to conclude the regular season.

The District 3C Boys’ Tournament begins Wednesday, February 17, when the fifth-seeded team plays in the fourth-seeded team’s gymnasium and the sixthseeded team plays in the third-seeded team’s gym.

From there the remainder of the tourney on Thursday, Friday and Saturday is scheduled to be played in the Malta High School gymnasium (watch the Leader’s website early next week to know in what towns/gyms those two first-round games are scheduled to be played).

The District 3C boys’ standings as of the morning of Tuesday, February 9, looked like this: Scobey is 8-0 in 3C and 15-0 overall with 1074 points for and 460 points ag...
