Sawfly Control Meetings–

Lawrence E. Fiesch, county agent for Daniels and Sheridan Counties, who assumed his new work this week, was in Scobey and stated that an entomologist and soil conservationist, who has been specializing in the latest sawfly control

metholds, will hold two meetings in Daniels County on December 5.

The new extension agent, will divide his time between work in Daniels and Sheridan Counties until each has engaged a county agent.

Gifts For GI’s In Hospital– A gift for every hospitalized war vetean is the aim of the drive conducted locally by the American Legion Auxiliary.

Local people who want to help make a merrier Christmas for hospitalized veterans may leave their gifts at either Scobey Drug, Service Drug, Greengard’s, Wood- ward’s or Peterson-Battle son stores. The Auxiliary will collect them before December 10th.

Off Ration List–

Radio news announcements stated that beginning November 24, rationing of meat, butter, fats and oils will be discontinued. While official word has not come

from OPA, the news announcement stated the news to be authentic. Pvt. Lawrence Bernard Died In Prison Camp– Mrs. William Bernard of Four Buttes received a tele gram stating that her son,

Pvt. Lawrence Bernard died

October 9, 1944 in a Japanese prison camp as a result of heat exhaustion.

The Weather–

Recorded high was 38 on November 19 and a low of minus 10 on Nov. 21 and 22.

Motor Vehicles Hard To Keep– Battleson and Co. re ceived their new Chevrolet demonstrator last week. They also received a shipment of seven trucks, all of which had new owners within a few hours after their arrival.

Remember Your Home Team– Basketball fans can get a

line on the Scobey Spartans this year by attending the opening game of the season on the home floor next Fri day evening, November 30, when the Poplar Indians will provide the other half of the contest.

Showing At The Theatres– Pictures showing at The Rex Theatre include, “Escape In The Desert”, “Where Do We Go From Here?”, “Laura”, and “Murder He Says”.

Flaxville Theatre pictures are, “Eve Knew Her Apples”, “Song Of The Prairie”, and “Those Endearing Young Charms”. Lutheran Men Conducting “White Elephant Sale”– The Lutheran Brother hood is sponsoring a “White Elephant Sale” at the Scobey Lutheran Church on Monday, November 26, at 7:30 p.m. A movie will be shown and lunch served.
