Donation Kick Starts Grave Marker Project

A $400 donation to the Daniels County Cemetery Board from the annual Catholic rummage sale will kick start a project to get markers for unmarked graves and update markers for some Veteran’s graves.

Three local organizations benefited from the annual

rummage sale. Buyers, at the rummage sale checkout, were able to choose from a list to designate the funds to.

Cemetery board member, Marlys Farver commented about getting the grave marker project going, “This has been a goal for the board for some years, and it will now come to be.” The donation was to be used at the board’s discretion and board consensus was that this would be a worthy project to get going.

Anyone else wanting to contribute to the fund for the project, can contact Marlys Farver or Tom Loftsgaard.

Health Department COVID Update

It is week twenty-eight of the COVID-19 restrictions.

As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, morning, Montana has 10,700 confirmed cas es, with 7,937 now recovered and 2,600 active cases, 314,009 tests completed, 163 deaths, 584 total hospitalizations, and 111 active hospitalizations. Daniels County has sent 147 samples for COVID-19 testing with 4 positive cases. There are no active Daniels County cases at this time.

As with case number four in Daniels County this week, there has been some confusion as to how the health department can report a positive case, without the case being shown as active.

A couple reasons and how this can happen: the infected person may have had symptoms several days before being tested and/or it could take several days for the result to be returned— when by that time, the positive case is already recovered.

Usually test results are back in 2 days, but may be longer, depending on how busy the state lab is at the time. As a result, the case may be already recovered (not active) by the time the Health Department receives the test results. A recovered (or not active) case indicates they are not contagious!

The CDC guidelines for being considered recovered and no longer an active case: 10 days since symptoms first

appear and 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving.

Sheridan County has 7 active cases and Roosevelt has 142 active cases.
