TWO FIRE CALLS IN ….

TWO FIRE CALLS IN

TWO DAYS, ONE FOR

EACH DEPARTMENT

Both the City of Scobey

and Daniels County fire de partments were called into action last week on back-toback days.

The first call occurred

shortly after 12 noon onTuesday, September 15, where a

fire was burning in the ditch

three miles west of Scobey along Highway 248. Cause

of the fire, according to the

D.C. Fire Department, was believed to be from a piece of farm machinery dragging something on the highway causing a spark.

The next evening, on Wednesday, September 16, the City of Scobey Fire Department was called to the Nemont Telephone Cooperative, Inc. headquarters on the southern edge of Scobey along Highway 13.

One of two fresh air circulating fan motors quit operating causing electrical smoke in the building’s air exchanger. No flames were

reported. A brief area power

outage shortly before the fire

call may have been a factor.
